Blasting technology is an important step in the manufacturing process, involving the removal of contaminants, scale, rust or old coatings from component surfaces. These are often caused by thermal processes, mechanical machining or environmental factors, and can impair surface quality and subsequent processing.

Blasting processes are used in many industrial sectors, particularly in metalworking, mechanical and plant engineering, and the Automotive industry. Clean and uniformly roughened surfaces form the basis for subsequent processes such as Coating, painting or galvanising.

Uniform spray pattern all round the workpiece

Thanks to the continuous circulation in our trough-belt blasting machines, the parts are treated from all sides. This ensures a uniform finish, even on parts with more complex geometries.

 

 

 

Gentle transport for delicate components

In our tumble belt through-feed shot blasting systems, the workpieces roll along the trough bars rather than colliding violently with one another. For delicate parts, the trough bars can be fitted with our PURALON lining (the brand name for our in-house polyurethane formulations). This is particularly relevant for delicate or thin-walled workpieces.

High efficiency with short lead times

The turbines accelerate the blasting media at high speed. Combined with the high blasting media throughput, this enables efficient processing in a continuous flow.

 

 

 

Customised solutions for Blasting

Blasting technology for perfect surfaces

Blasting systems produce uniform surfaces and enhance the appearance of workpieces. They compact surfaces, remove scale, descale and derust workpieces. The rotating turbine wheel accelerates the blasting media particles to high speeds. As a result, they strike the surface of the workpieces with high momentum.

Combined with the high throughput of the blasting media, this results in high efficiency and short processing times. With the trough conveyor system, we have developed a system that sets high technological standards: the workpieces are not only treated intensively, but are also transported very gently through the system. In the process, they are continuously tumbled and thus blasted evenly from all sides.

The result: all parts leave the system with excellent surface quality. Depending on the application, blasting media made of stainless steel, aluminium or brass is used.

At Walther Trowal, we combine intensive and uniform blasting with particularly gentle and consistent workpiece transport. The trough belt conveyor system we have developed for this purpose continuously tumbles the parts as they pass through. What’s more, with our THM series trough belt blasting systems, you can save up to 80% on energy.
