The perfect complement to Additive manufacturing

Additive manufacturing

Innovative, using tried-and-tested mass finishing technology

Cost-effective for a perfect finish

Many components produced using additive manufacturing have a certain degree of surface roughness. They need to be finely ground or polished, as the layered application of the material results in a stair-step effect.

In addition, marks left by support structures and caked-on powder residues must be removed before the parts can be further processed or used.

Trowalizing has proven to be the ideal method for surface finishing in this context.

The AM post-processing process

Ideal for complex geometries

It is particularly in Additive manufacturing that our patented mass finishing process really comes into its own: the abrasive media, which flow around the components, treat the surface evenly and gently, whilst also reaching hard-to-access internal contours and undercuts.

We also offer suitable solutions for additively manufactured parts such as knee implants, dental splints, aligners and ear moulds for hearing aids .

Additive Perfection

Smoothness and shine in one

Mass finishing is the perfect complement to Additive manufacturing: in a single operation, the abrasive media remove all surface roughness typical of this process.

The AM series of AM post-process machines achieve a high degree of reproducibility. And, unlike electrochemical processes, smoothness and lustre are achieved in a single process step.

The AM post-process method is suitable for all materials used in additively manufactured parts: high-strength metals that are difficult to machine, such as titanium, as well as nickel-based or cobalt-chromium alloys, and also non-ferrous metals and plastics – materials in the machining of which Walther Trowal has decades of experience.

Our solutions for Coating

Additive manufacturing and perfectly coated

The Rotamat is the ideal solution for coating additively manufactured workpieces with decorative or functional coatings (for example, small plastic parts or the temples of spectacle frames).

It gives the workpieces a uniform, glossy finish. It also seals the pores caused by the manufacturing process, thereby extending the service life of the workpieces.
