Mass finishing using a trough vibratory finishing machine

Trough vibratory finishing machine: linear rather than circular

Trough vibratory finishing machines have a linear working chamber with a U-shaped cross-section. They are often used for workpieces that are too large to be processed in circular vibratory finishing machines or Centrifugal finishing systems.

Trough-type mass finishing technology

Trough vibratory finishing machine – suitable for large workpieces

The range of workpieces processed in trough vibratory finishing machines extends from small valve housings to aircraft components several metres long. Trough vibratory finishing machines are primarily used for:

Trough vibratory finishing machine: The technology

Linear hoppers offer other options

Trough vibratory finishing machines have a linear working chamber in which the workpieces and Abrasive media are tumbled perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. This makes them suitable both for long components and for workpieces with delicate surfaces.

They operate gently and evenly, whilst fully preserving the contours of the workpieces.

TMV trough vibratory finishing machine: For lengths of several metres

Large components, such as fan blades or structural parts of aircraft, are lowered into the abrasive bed from above and secured if necessary. They machine the surface gently and evenly, whilst fully preserving the contour.

In the aerospace industry, TMV trough vibratory finishing machines are also frequently used for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of blades.

Unique: Vertical machining

When machining aircraft engine turbine blades up to 1,400 mm in length, the blades are clamped vertically into a lifting frame and lowered into the trough vibratory finishing machine filled with abrasive media. The high relative speed between the workpieces and the Abrasive media results in short processing times with uniform material removal and high reproducibility. The processing cycle usually takes only around 60 minutes – significantly less than with manual reworking.

TFM trough vibratory finishing machine:
Versatile

The trough vibratory finishing machines in the TFM series are used for trowalizing large and/or delicate parts, which are usually fed into the trough loose.

Workpieces with delicate surfaces are either clamped individually in holding devices or processed loose in separate compartments. This ensures that damage to the workpieces during processing is ruled out.

Plug-and-play and easy to use

TFM trough vibratory finishing machine 83/37 compact

The TFM 83/37 compact trough vibratory finishing machine plays a special role: we have developed this particularly compact machine for light deburring, degreasing and oil removal of small batch sizes. We supply this trough vibratory finishing machine ready to plug in. Operation is limited to switching it on and off.

It is frequently used in workshops for cleaning and degreasing of components – for example, from engines or gearboxes – after they have been removed or before they are refitted.
