Whether they are parts for the automotive and cosmetics industries, components for stationery, toys and small goods, or sealing and damping elements: both water-based and solvent-based coatings can be processed in Rotamat machines:
- Decorative and functional coatings
- Single- or two-component speciality coatings
- Anti-seize coatings
- Anti-corrosion coatings
- Insulating coatings
- Adhesives

The Rotamat coats batches ranging from hundreds to tens of thousands of small parts simultaneously in its rotating barrel. Even parts with complex geometries or those that are particularly delicate emerge from the machineevenly coated, separated and dry. They are ready for immediate further processing.
Many Rotamat machines already apply PFAS-free release coatings. Not only are they a more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional PTFE coatings, but they are also significantly superior to them in terms of their physical and chemical properties.
Extensive test series have confirmed that, following tumble coating in Rotamat machines, they adhere more firmly to the surfaces of the components than PFAS-containing coatings, whilst still being highly elastic.

Our Rotamat machines enable large quantities of workpieces to be processed with minimal manpower. Furthermore, the precisely adjustable process parameters ensure a high degree of repeatability.
Alongside the high quality and reliability of the Rotamat machines, their low running costs are a key factor: apart from loading and unloading the Barrel, no manual operations are required. This drastically reduces labour costs compared with conventional Coating methods.
Due to the low level of overspray, paint consumption is also significantly lower, as the application efficiency is around 90 per cent. With Rotamat machines, this consumption is now only 20 to 30 per cent of the figures previously typical.
In Rotamat machines, small parts are coated with paint in large quantities within a sealed, rotating barrel. Automatic spray coating machines apply the coating material evenly to the parts as they roll over one another. Once the coating process is complete, the workpieces are discharged from the swivelling barrel.
The Rotamat machines’ comprehensive sensor system provides accurate measurement data for precise control of the material flow. This ensures that the correct quantity of coating material per unit of time is applied to the parts at all times, and that the desired film thickness is maintained accurately and reproducibly.
This precise control ensures that the desired amount of coating material is applied to the parts per unit of time at all times – with low atomisation and minimal overspray.
The result: uniformly coated surfaces, consistent film thickness and high long-term stability of the material application.
We are pioneers not only in the invention of mass finishing, but also in tumble coating: the Rotamat is the only tumble coating machine whose barrels can be changed as required.
With capacities ranging from 2 to 160 litres per batch, they offer a high degree of flexibility for a wide range of batch sizes. This allows users to coat small parts at any time in barrels that are optimally adapted to different batch sizes or workpiece geometries.
Our R 100, for example, can be used with all six drum sizes. This means that – for prototyping, for instance – batches with a volume of just a few litres can be tested in the same machine under conditions identical to those for large batch sizes in routine production. For the user, this means maximum flexibility, even when operating conditions change.
Inside the Rotamat machine’s sealed barrel, the workpieces are coated under a gentle, adjustable vacuum. This prevents solvent-laden exhaust air from escaping into the environment.
The Rotamat machines’ filter system also reliably traps dust particles produced by paint mist during the drying process. This represents a significant benefit for occupational safety and environmental protection. When working with solvent-based paints, the Rotamat machines guarantee complete explosion protection.
The Rotamat can be integrated into the user’s production control system via the communication interface and data exchange with the higher-level customer systems. In this way, we pave the way for high efficiency throughout the entire coating process chain.
