Degreasing is an important step in the manufacturing process, during which oils, greases and other residues are removed from component surfaces. These residues often arise during machining operations such as milling, turning or punching and can impair subsequent processing.
The degreasing process is used in many industries, particularly in metalworking, the Automotive industry, electronics manufacturing and Medical engineering. Clean surfaces form the basis for subsequent processes such as Coating, bonding or assembly.
- Clean, process-reliable component surfaces
- Improved adhesion for coatings and bonding
- Less scrap and rework in subsequent processing stages

When punching, sawing or forming materials, mineral oil-based lubricants are usually used, which must be removed in degreasing baths before further processing. This intermediate step is not required with Trowalizing: it combines degreasing and mass finishing in a single operation. This saves on handling effort, time and money. Degreasing and Cleaning also play a significant role in maintenance and repair – for example, when reconditioning parts.
We use special consumables that thoroughly remove grease. The effect is particularly intense, as the constant collision of the abrasive media with the workpiece brings the compound into very close contact with its surface, thereby also mechanically removing the grease.
With Walther Trowal solutions, you can thoroughly degrease components and, where appropriate, combine this step directly with mass finishing. Special, in-house-manufactured Compounds dissolve oils and greases, whilst the mechanical action of the Abrasive media further removes any adhering residues. This allows you to reduce the number of separate process steps and create clean surfaces for Coating, bonding or assembly.
