Many components in the medical engineering sector place extreme demands on surface quality. On the one hand, they must have an exceptionally low surface roughness; on the other hand, the geometry of the parts – such as implants – must correspond exactly to the specifications, as even the slightest irregularities or scratches can result in rejects.


Particularly in the case of implants subject to high mechanical stress and with complex surface geometries – such as knee joints – material must be removed evenly during grinding and polishing. This results in exceptionally smooth surfaces that are wear-resistant and continue to function reliably within the body over the long term.
