Continuous mass finishing machines

Continuous processing machines: Integrated into production

Continuous processing machines operate non-stop. They are usually integrated into interlinked manufacturing processes and process workpieces as they arise during production in the preceding stages.

Continuous-flow mass finishing

Continuous processing machines – flexible even for high volumes

With their long, linear work tank, these continuous processing machines are particularly suitable for deburring, grinding and degreasing:

  • large quantities of small and medium-sized mass-produced parts – for example, stamped, die-cast, formed and forged parts,
  • larger parts, such as oil pans, cylinder head covers or engine and pump casings.

Continuous processing machines can be integrated very easily into fully automated manufacturing processes or interlinked production lines. The workpieces are fed in as bulk material or individually, as and when they are produced – for example, as they leave a casting line.

Continuous processing machines: The technology

Mass finishing on a continuous production line

The linear trough of the continuous processing machine is filled with abrasive media and is set into vibration evenly along its entire length by several unbalanced weights. The MULTIVIB system, developed by Walther Trowal, offers the major advantage of uniform processing along the entire length of the working trough.

Together with the abrasive media, the workpieces move through the trough in a spiral pattern. At the end of the trough, they exit the working vessel via a screening zone: the workpieces are discharged from the machine, whilst the abrasive media fall through the screen onto a conveyor belt and are automatically returned to the cycle.

The duration of the processing can be variably adjusted within a wide range via the drive for the discharge channel.

Easy to use & flexible changes

Smaller workpieces are fed into the trough as bulk material from an intermediate hopper via the feed conveyor. Large parts are placed onto the conveyor individually, either by hand or by a robot. Switching from feeding bulk material to feeding individual parts is done at the touch of a button.

Seamlessly integrate continuous processing machines

The continuous processing machines can be integrated very easily into a higher-level cycle or flow production system, as the loading and unloading of workpieces are largely integrated into the machining process.

Industrial applications for continuous processing machines

Workpieces

In continuous processing machines, workpieces are fed in individually or in bulk and move through the trough along the longitudinal axis within the mass of abrasive media. The duration and intensity of the workpiece processing can be adjusted within a wide range.
