Rotating barrels for precise fine-grinding and polishing

Rotating barrels offer a cost-effective and technically sound solution, particularly when machining small parts in medium-volume production runs. The relatively long running times result in extremely fine surfaces and cleanly rounded workpiece edges. The systems are also ideally suited to fine grinding and polishing.

The bell body is designed as a double-conical, octagonal welded structure and generates a triple sliding motion of the abrasive media together with the workpieces. The lining consists of wear-resistant rubber or polyurethane, whilst the tightly-fitting safety lid made of polyurethane ensures safe operation.

An automatic lifting and lowering mechanism enables the bell-shaped housing to be loaded and unloaded quickly. This is particularly advantageous for short processing times or when operating several bells simultaneously.

Various optional extras are available, including quick-release couplings, flushing devices with sieve lids and quick-clamping systems.

* The ratio of abrasive media to workpieces is usually 3:1, i.e. three parts abrasive media to one part workpieces.
** The size of the workpieces is limited by the feed opening. Bell-shaped hoppers are mainly used for small parts requiring gentle machining.
