In order to achieve the desired finish during mass finishing, various special media are used in addition to abrasive media. These enable both powerful pressure deburring and gentle fine deburring.
Steel media are primarily used for pressure deburring and ball polishing. These include steel balls with diameters ranging from 2.5 to 5.0 mm, as well as satellites and pins, which are available in various grades of stainless steel depending on the machining requirements.
Glass beads are particularly suitable for gentle, precision deburring of complex-shaped workpieces. Due to their low tendency to become lodged, even parts with internal contours can be processed reliably. Glass beads with diameters between 2 and 10 mm are used.
Granules are used to dry finished workpieces. In heated vibrators containing maize cob grit, wood granules or plastic granules, the parts are gently dried whilst simultaneously undergoing cleaning to remove any adhering abrasives. Maize cob grit also provides a polishing effect, whilst Trowapol granules remove residues.
Separating beads are used for flat or thin workpieces that tend to stick together during processing. They prevent the parts from sticking and ensure uniform processing.

The workpieces, which are still damp after machining, are dried in a heated vibratory dryer filled with granules. They emerge from the machine dry and free of stains. During the drying process, the granulesperform cleaning on the parts to remove lightly adhering swarf and lightly polish the surface.
All trowalpol drying and polishinggranules are made from natural, renewable raw materials.
- Maize meal has good drying properties with an additional polishing effect; it also performs cleaning on the parts, removing lightly adhering abrasion residue.
- Crushed nuts are characterised by the high density of the material and, consequently, low swelling properties.
