Compounds and polishing agents for efficient vibratory finishing processes

In addition to the abrasive media, the use of suitable Compounds also plays a crucial role in the vibratory finishing process. Depending on the material and the machining task, workpieces are cleaned, degreased and (temporarily) protected against corrosion during processing. A wide range of standard compounds is available for this purpose. For specific requirements, Walther Trowal also offers special compounds with specific properties, such as acid resistance, low foaming or pickling action.

Various polishing processes are also available to achieve the desired surface quality. In the Trowapast process, hard and rough surfaces such as steel, stainless steel or brass are gently polished to a high gloss over several hours. With ball polishing, workpieces made of aluminium, die-cast zinc, brass or stainless steel are given a shiny surface quickly and cost-effectively. Powder compounds can be used for higher grinding performance. They perform cleaning on contaminated abrasive media and roughen up media that have become too smooth. For workpieces heavily contaminated with oil or grease, so-called ‘shock degreasing’ is also recommended, achieved by adding degreasing powder. For pickling, descaling, and derusting, the powdered pickling agent Z1 is also available, which is characterised by its ease of use.

trowapast grinding and polishing pastes produce high-gloss surfaces. They are primarily effective on flat surfaces, rather than on edges. They are used, for example, for finishing knives. They are usually applied using a flow-through system.
